ATL Diaries: Star Struck...

I'm not the type to be star struck when it comes to meeting celebrities. I've met Destiny's Child v.2, Rodney Hampton (formerly of NY Giants), Bill Clinton, etc. I never do all the screaming and squealing and jumping around.
Then I met her.
Chilli of TLC. And still wasn't star struck.

In fact, I was getting the shuttle van washed at the car wash in Midtown this morning. A woman 2 seats down called out “Ro!” and I glanced up but didn’t pay much attention. When “Ro” walked past me, I looked up and noticed her bag, which had a picture of Chilli’s son Tron on it. “Ro” sat next to me and as kept looking at her because she seemed familiar, she looked directly at me. I then recognized her. “Chilli?”, I said. She smiled and waved, “Hi. How are you?” I replied, “Great, and you?” “I’m good, thanks,” she said then continued her conversation with the friend. Asking for autographs and pictures was out of the question. Besides, she wasn’t there for long as they left like 2 minutes later.
Chilli’s so beautiful in person, and so small. And yes, the baby hairs were real.
It was cool meeting her and she seemed human. I know I should get used to this because I'm sure I'll see more since I live in ATL.
I mean, I've seen Gucci's tour bus like 5 times already. He's one I don't want to meet though.

Back to (Boring) Me

I decided to go ahead and give this crazy bitch a listen. I can’t really be a fan of hers anymore after she tried that fake ass suicide attempt. I still believe all that “drama” is a publicity stunt since she needs buzz because her upcoming album isn’t generating any. I already liked the lead single “Bittersweet” (notice she sings, “my Lord, my Lord…this shit is bittersweet”). The 2nd single, “Man of the House” is catchy but I doubt it will do well as a single. And of course, “Even Angels” is a nice somewhat motivational track. Unfortunately, it feels like the album is all over the place. While each and every track is great or just good enough, I find myself getting bored by the 4th track and trying to stay awake and maintain attention by the 6th. I feel the album wasn’t well put together and there aren’t any good singles. However, Fanny does show some growth. I’d have to listen to the tracks randomly instead of from beginning to end. Not THE best but definitely a good one. Glad Fanny and Monica is resurrecting the female R&B genre and sticking true to it. Now it’s time for Faith and Kelly P. to follow suit.
Standout: “I’m Here” (from ‘The Color Purple’ musical) - This shit had me on my damn feet.

L Boogie speaks!

Lauryn Hill is back — sort of.
Celebrated for her work with the Fugees and her classic solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, the Grammy-winning hip-hop/R&B artist has barely been seen or heard since 1999. (Despite universal accolades, she only released one album after 1998’s Miseducation: 2002’s MTV Unplugged.) Some wondered whether the erratic artist — who demands to be addressed as “Ms. Hill” — had a nervous breakdown.
But Hill, now 35, finally explained her mysterious absence to National Public Radio’s Zoe Chace, who scored a interview with the artist following a rare performance in Santa Rosa, Calif.
Why did she stop recording? “There were a number of different reasons,” she explains.
“But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it.”
The platinum-selling star also takes aim at the music industry, suggesting it didn’t nurture her with enough care or patience: “Oftentimes,” Hill says, “the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society…And it’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected.”
Not that Hill hasn’t kept herself busy the past 11 years.
“I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children,” she tells NPR. Her children’s dad is Hill’s longtime love Rohan Marley, son of the late reggae legend Bob Marley
“The youngest is 2 now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be okay.”
“I think it’s just time,” to start performing again, she adds.
“I’m starting to get excited again. Believe it or not, I think what people are attracted to about me, if anything, is my passion. People got exposed to my passion through music and song first…And I think that can be infectious.”

Butch Queen. Smmfh.

Apparently, Tahj Mowry “came out the closet” tonight via Twitter. Because he says things like “YESSSSSS” and “WERK”, and he likes Lady Gaga and Twilight.

So naturally, the gays are congratulating him on “coming out”. I mean, he does seem a lil suspect but still. Now he's stuck trying to fight off the gays welcoming him to the team.

Maybe he's in denial, maybe not. But DAMMIT gays...every sexy man you see is not gay, so stop trying to make them that way!!!

Wanna go home with Trigga?

We all saw the official cover for the April 2010 issue of whack-ass Vibe Magazine, which now releases double covers for it's seasonal issues, this season featuring R&B hearthrob Trey Songz and hip-hop star Young Jeezy. Well, Vibe recently released some outtakes of Trigga's photoshoot, I'm guessing to get the ladies to shell out a few dollars. And the men too. ;)
Do you wanna go home with Trigga now?

Obviously not-so breaking news...

Ricky Martin has finally opened the door to the glass closet and stepped out. You may now return to your regularly boring life.

Seriously. Ellen, we knew it. Clay Aiken, we knew it. Lance Bass, we frickin' knew it! What's the difference between them and Ricky? NOT A DAMN THING!

In a public letter posted on his website, after many years of having to live in silence and being told by the industry *feigned shock* NOT to reveal is not-so secret sexual orientation, Martin has finally declared that he is "a fortunate homosexual man", and that he is "very blessed" to be who he is.

Since the letter is so damn long and I'm feeling too lazy to post it, you can read it HERE.

Can we get a REAL surprise coming out story, like T.I. or Denzel or Bow Wow. Well, Bow Wow wouldn't be so surprising...

*Throws confetti and twirls* Now we can sing "HE Bangs"...

Illuminati Mindfuck...

Surely, you guys have heard all the rumors and conspiracy theories about certain celebrities and secret societies.

Jay-Z, Illuminati. Beyoncé, Illuminati. Denzel Washington, Freemasonry. Kobe Bryant, Freemasonry.

I could go on. The point is these so called "truths" are rapidly spreading via the world wide web and feeding into the minds of the most gullible idiots who will believe any ridiculous story on the face of this earth. The stories have become more prevalent surrounding Jay-Z and anyone who associates with him, from Kanye West to Rihanna to even John Mayer. And yes, even Beyoncé.

Cue the "Telephone" video from Lady Gaga which happens to feature Lady Bouncy. I'm not surprised these overly dramatic fanatics had all the time in the world to dissect every inch, corner and frame of the video for any symbols of devil worshipping, satanism, demonics - you name it, they look for it.  Well, there's a scene that Bouncy performs in a bedroom wearing a blue military style jacket:
See that little face? Crazy, right? If I didn't have half the mind, I would have fallen for it too. BUT...I noticed something else. Look directly above that little face. Can you see it? What about to the left above that same little face? I'll point it out:
Yep, MORE LITTLE FACES!!!
GASP!!!! THE WOMAN'S THE DEVIL!!!

*Insert sarcasm here*

Clearly that jacket was designed with the little faces. I guess, like Jigga, Bouncy knows how to get them to talk....

Pay up!

In the case of baby Nixon, Matthew Knowles...you ARE the father!

Maury isn't even needed. See this?

Same head shape. Same mouth. Same eyebrows. Same chin and cheeks. Same bald head.
That baby mama gotta be 5,000 percent sho!

Turns out a judge ordered him to pay $20,750 in support for the month of January, $8,200 a month for child support and 100% of all uninsured medical costs. Word on the street (how 90s of me), he already gave the baby mama $10,000 for the medical and baby stuff costs.

This is the baby mama:

C'mon, Matt. If you couldn't do better than Tina then you could've done better than this.

SMH.

Some things should be left alone...

Like the classic "We Are The World". Before the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the newly re-recorded "We Are The World 25" ('25' for the 25th anniversary of the original song), which was done to raise money for...wait for it...HAITI! That's all fine and whatever but when you take a classic hit song, remake it with different people and the end result comes out like this:

H.A.M.=Hot Ass Mess!!!

Let's Jump...

Erykah Badu featuring Lil' Wayne.::Jump In The Air (And Stay There)::.

New Music Tuesday: Sade & Monica

British soul singer Sade finally drops her first album after ten long years of absence from the music scene and she doesn't miss a beat. Soldier of Love, the ten-track album which features the smash hit first single of the same title, picks up where Lover's Rock left off. Sade remains true to her soulful sound all while keeping current with today's musical climate. With the second single, Skin, beginning to pick up pace, I can't even tell which songs to check out. The album in its entirety is just that damn good. GET IT!!

In stores and available on iTunes now!!

Celebrating fifteen years in the music business, my number one favorite R&B singer Monica is off to a good start with the release of her new smash hit single, Everything to Me, the first off her upcoming fifth studio album, Still Standing. With just two weeks of radio airplay, the song, chosen by Monica's fans during a back and forth battle with executives at J Records, currently sits at #31 on the Billboard R&B charts and climbing. Mo returns to her roots, bringing us that powerful, soulful voice that gave us classics such as Why I Love You So Much, For You I Will and Angel of Mine: talented vocals, real lyrics...just all out SANGIN'!! The single is now available on iTunes and the fan download day is set for this Friday 2/12/2010. Just in time for Valentine's Day.

Click HERE to get "Everything to Me" now!

The return of real, quality R&B music was started by Maxwell and Whitney. Monica and Sade is helping to usher its complete return. I hope Bouncy gets on board during her six-month not-so-much-of-a break.

S.O.S: Help for Haiti

Yep, another telethon to raise funds in order to help Haiti. A couple of weeks ago, many stars ranging from actors to singers to activists came together for the Help For Haiti Now campaign to raise money for the relief efforts in the aftermath of the deadly earthquakes in Haiti. So far, nearly $90 million has been raised. Last night, media broadcasting company Viacom, which owns the three music networks BET, MTV and VH1, decided that another telethon was needed. This time, S.O.S: Saving Ourselves - Help for Haiti, there were mostly popular African-American singers and rappers, and some actors. I'm not sure how much would be raised with this benefit concert, which was held in Miami and hosted by Queen Latifah, Diddy and Pharrell, as it was only aired on those three aforementioned networks. I'm sure millions of us have donated all that we could by now. Many stars that came out includes Justin Bieber, Busta Rhymes, Monica, Mary J. Blige, Kirk Franklin, India.Arie, Ludacris, Jazmine Sullivan, Akon, Spike Lee, Wyclef Jean, former President Bill Clinton, Robin Thicke, Keri Hilson, Mike Tyson, Chrisette Michele, Ne-Yo and Chris Brown, who was warmly welcomed by fans (audience and Twitter) as he gave his first televised performance since the domestic violence incident that occurred one year ago. Here are a few performances from the concert:

Chris Brown - Crawl/With You

Monica featuring Ludacris - Still Standing

Kirk Franklin featuring India.Arie, Chrisette Michele and Jazmine Sullivan - Are You Listening?

Mary J. Blige featuring Jazmine Sullivan - Gonna Make It/One

Justin Bieber featuring Ludacris - One Less Lonely Girl/Never Let You Go/Baby

Nas and Damien Marley

I'm sooooo glad Bouncy wasn't there to perform because if I had to hear "Haiti, I can see your halo" one more time....but didn't it seem like little Justin was taking notes from her during his performance of "Baby"? "Haiti, Haiti, Haiti, Haiti, Hai---" STFU!!!!
