The gear has shifted from Drive to Reverse...

And that's where this country seems to be heading as a result of the midterm election...backwards.

Republicans has regained the control of the House. Democrats keeps control of the Senate.

The economy has stabilized but it's not recovering as fast as we want. However, an eight-year mess cannot be cleaned in less than 2. Unfortunately, people REFUSE to see that and expected an overnight miracle. It takes time and work. And the GOP and the Tea-baggers (lmao) were already fighting in opposition to everything President Obama and the Dems where trying to do. Two years ago, they had their eyes set on this election. So they did what they had to do. Took the small negatives and blew it up. Scare tactics. Sadly but not surprising in true political fashion, lies. (The Dems aren't that innocent either.) People are so gullible to believe everything they're told instead of researching on their own. This wasn't a presidential election but it was still a crucial and important one, and it shapes up the next presidential election, in which the GOP now have their eyes set on.

President Obama is willing to work with the Republicans but I highly doubt he'll get the cooperation he needs from them. The GOP wants to do away with entitlement benefits - kiss your Medicare and Social Security check goodbye, senior citizens because majority of your age group voted for them. The GOP wants to do away with education spending and the department. They're not going to help college students.  They want to repeal health care reform but it will not happen as long as the Prez has the power to veto. (I don't see why they can't make amendments instead). One of the newly acquired Republican seats, the winner (name forgotten) stated that there was no rich, poor or middle class. Paul Rand stated "we came to take our government back".

The same government that got us into this mess. The same government that Americans voted for. The same government that Americans were mad and fed up with for getting us into this mess. The Dems had 2 years. Let's see what the elephants can do in less than 2.

So, no, I don't want to hear ANY complaints because YOU made the decision of who should run the country. Even if you DIDN'T vote. Hell, if you didn't, do NOT speak to me.

Georgie Bush says Kanye's comment was the WORST moment of his 8 year presidency.

Not 9/11.
Not Hurricane Katrina.
Not the beginning of the recession.
Not Iraq.
But Kanye West’s “George Bush doesn’t like black people” comment.
Something is definitely wrong with that picture.

Historic Victory: Health Care Reform has passed!

A victory for the American people!

After one hundred years, the call of history has been answered with a 219-212 vote, despite all 178 Republicans and 34 Democrats opposing.

Now, I've had my own issues regarding this bill in terms of its costs, the cost for those with pre-existing conditions (especially those passed middle age), unemployed college students who are barely paying for school, abortion and being fined for being uninsured, among other things. Oh, and the fact that there's still no public option. We can argue back and forth the wrongs and rights, agree and disagree, but I know we can all agree that the 32 million uninsured Americans need help. This HCR law is a start. This is CHANGE.

Way to go, Mr. President. Way to go. *Applause*

*Side note: The right-wing, GOP, tea-baggers *giggles* and their supporters are already predicting doom for the future of the Dems this November. If you see a fan of the elephant, you know the Republican mascot, saying they're GLAD for this passing, just know they're prematurely celebrating that this could possibly be the last term for many Dems and Mr. Obama. It would be hilarious if and when they're wrong.

This man right here...

This is MY president.
As matter of fact, he's OUR president. Hell, 53% of the country, which I'm sure a figure that included some of you as well as me, voted for him.

Why?

Because in the midst of the state of our country's economy, no thanks to dumb ass Dubya, we saw this barely known black man from Chicago, Illinois as a pillar of hope and inspiration.

His name? Barack Hussein Obama.

He motivated us by letting us know that "Yes, we can!" Then on November 4, 2008, we DID. He spoke words of hope that restored our faith. He inspired us and we made him our leader. A leader who we BELIEVED in and that would take us in the right direction. On January 20, 2009, on year ago, the world stopped and watched as we, AMERICA, welcomed our new president. The first black President in our history. Afterward, it was on to a smooth sailing transition of economic recovery and a better life for the American people. Right?

WRONG!!

Immediately as President Obama began his new job, with a starting approval rating of nearly 70%, he faced opposition from the other side. Who's the other side, you ask? His own party's enemies...the Republicans. Or Stinky Ass Elephants, if you call them that. They began to reject every idea, every policy, every plan that Mr. Obama and the Dems concocted to repair the country's woes. The stimulus package, health care reform, his Nobel Peace prize and, most recently, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. (If you really follow politics like I do, you'd know that Prez O initially did not want to send more troops to Afghanistan. He was pressured and pushed to make what was his final decision by members from both sides of Congress. As soon as he gives them what THEY wanted, THEY immediately flipped the script to say it was a bad decision and put the President in a bad light.)

They began to associate themselves with the American public, mostly the Elephant supporters, by aligning themselves with the New Tea Party Movement (NTPM), an organization started by those that call themselves...wait for it..."TEA-BAGGERS". You know, that is a VERY INTERESTING name for this group. Hmph, if only they knew. They began to feed on the minds of uncertain independents, swaying them in the opinion about the President and his agenda. Obama's overall first year approval rating now stands at 48% (source).

Inheriting eight years worth of mess from the previous DUD that choked on a pretzel, Prez Obama became one of, if not the most, scrutinized presidents in American history. He hadn't completed one year of his first term in office and declarations were being made that he will not be re-elected. The man has THREE MORE YEARS!!

I stand behind my President.

In my opinion, he's done a pretty damn good job so far. It was only his first year and he's done quite a bit more than I expected, even repaired the image of America to other countries. While I didn't agree with the extra troops issue, I refuse to let the opposition tear this good black man down because Prez O is doing everything he can to make things right again. So I will still stand behind him for the next three years.

The question is: Will you join me?

Insane Rush...

There's only one person in this world that would politicize a major natural disaster that destroyed one of the poorest nations on Earth.

Limbaugh says: Obama will use Haiti to boost credibility with "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country"

Then after making the Haitian disaster story about Obama, Limbaugh wants to claim that the media is making the story about themselves.

Pot, meet Kettle.

And you wonder why people had their fingers crossed and hoping for bad news when Limbaugh was "Rush"-ed to the hospital for his little "heart scare", which by the way, I believe was a publicity stunt so he can lie to American about what a "wonderful" health care system we have. I don't wish ill will on anyone, but Rush: Go choke on a pill already.

Sign of the times...

Houston. Annise Parker. 12/12/09.

My hometown. The new mayor. History.

Why, you ask? Miss Parker is an out and proud lesbian. After more than a month of intense campaigning during a hotly contested runoff, Annise Parker has been elected as the first openly gay mayor of the city of Houston, defeating former city attorney Gene Locke in a solid victory. Houston is also the largest U.S. city to elect an openly gay mayor. Several smaller cities have openly gay mayors, including Portland, Ore., Providence, R.I., and Cambridge, Mass.

While I applaud this major victory for the GLBT community, especially in Houston as it shows we are moving forward, I have to admit that my support was for Locke. Yes, Locke is a black man and Parker is a lesbian, however, although some Houstonians may have casted their votes based on those two factors alone, I didn't care about that as neither of those were reasons for the direction of my vote. For me, it was about the future of my hometown and who I saw as a better fit for mayor, and that was Gene Locke. I look forward to seeing mayor-elect Parker in action over the next two years. I'm glad that I was able to witness such an historic victory for our community.

History, pride and victory is now the celebration. Let's hope this will bring U.N.I.T.Y. and not the ignorance in people, and we can move on and help Annise Parker make this city better.

"This election has changed the world for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. Just as it is about transforming the lives of all Houstonians for the better, and that's what my administration will be about."
-Annise Parker, Houston's 1st openly gay mayor

The hell...?

Are these people SERIOUS?!
First of all, I'm not understanding why people are calling this health care reform "Obama's Health Plan" or "Obamacare". It isn't HIS plan. There's a House bill and there's a Senate bill, neither of which President Obama has yet to place his signature. HE didn't come up with ANYTHING on either bills. Congress did. The ONLY thing the Prez did was adapt the IDEA of a universal health care plan to revise the system and help those who currently cannot afford health care, and left the planning up to the members of Congress. It's the same idea that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had when she ran for president during the Democratic primaries.
Second of all, this ad was filmed and released based on the "beliefs" of 12% of voters? Hell, half the damn country believes in Big Foot and UFOs. Besides, according to that exact same Rasmussen report, 67% disagreed with the sentiment that opponents of the HCR are racist, while 21% were not sure. I guess any small amount was significantly enough to prompt an ad campaign. #ChilePlease
I'll be honest: I'm not one to pull the race card in every situation and I do believe that SOME of the opposition to the Obama administration's agenda is fueled by racism. I just don't believe ALL of the opposition is based on racism. Yes, racism still exists and a lot of people in this country are racist, however, I doubt that many Americans are accusing the entire opposition to HCR as racist at ALL. Nope, just that supposedly measly "12%" we're soooo worried about.
This video is a ridiculously idiotic move generated by right-wing conservatives as a defense for an imaginary attack. The video in itself is practically racist. Notice that there's only TWO Blacks, ONE Asian and ONE Hispanic out of a total of 21 people. Sadly, these people, I believe, were paid actors selected to participate in this video. I mean, do you really believe ALL of them are the least bit of a racist in real life, even the little 3 year old? Yeah, sure Republicans, that little "racist" baby knows how to agree or oppose on a major political or social issue. *Insert sarcasm here*
Mr. President will not have an easy term and will continue to scrutinized based on his skin color, and that is the truth. In case some people didn't know or fail to realize, the Prez isn't 100% Black anyway. Shocking? Yeah, you were only looking at the shade of his skin. That is complete and blatant disrespect to his mother and maternal grandparents, all of whom are white.
Anyway, the health care reform is a serious issue in an attempt to revamp the current hack of a health care system to help the poor people, in which the majority is non-white. Racist? Maybe, maybe not. Why anybody would oppose to health care assistance that could replace what they're paying an arm and a leg for is beyond me. In fact, I'm not even seeing how this overhaul is going to be a "government-run system", only that it's going to be accessible to all so that the industry doesn't rip people off as they have been doing for years. If only people would take the time and do some research. Whether you agree with me or not, I support HCR. I hope people are smart enough to see this 'advertisement' for what it is.

If anything, the Tea Party of 2009 was full of blatant racists.
