New Video: Nicki Minaj feat. Sean Garrett - Massive Attack

Artist: Nicki Minaj featuring Sean Garrett
Song: Massive Attack

I'm liking this one. It's visually and artistically creative and original. I could care less if she's biting Lil Kim's style. I mean, Beyonce anyone? Lady Gaga? Direct yourself here---> www.getthefuckoveritpeople.com.

As for the song, the jury is still out on that. I want to like it but what am I supposed to do? I can't even bob my head to it, let alone attempt to dance. It seems uncomfortable...like a white dude in a black club in the back of the hood.

New Releases: Usher & Erykah

As if Monica wasn't enough last week, R&B is taking over again with the new releases from two of the genre's biggest stars: Usher and Erykah Badu.
Lady Badu, who is pretty much like royalty of neo-soul, comes back to us with the second part of her four album series, New Amerykah, Pt. 2: Return of the Ankh. The album features the lead hit single, "Window Seat", along with tracks such as "Jump In The Air (and Stay There)" featuring Lil Wayne and Bilal, "Incense" featuring Kirsten Agnesta, "Out My Mind, Just In Time" and "Turn Me Away (Get Munny)". This album is as brilliant as, if not better than, Part One. If this is your kind of stuff, get the album. If this is not your cup of tea, GET INTO IT! Grade: A
Usher drops his new album, Raymond v. Raymond, as the follow-up the lackluster, critically acclaimed, Here I Stand, which was met with lukewarm reception. Led by the lead smash hit single, Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home), the album comes jam-packed with tunes about partying, love, sex & relationships. Including tracks like "Lil Freak" featuring Nicki Minaj and "There Goes My Baby", which are also gaining at radio, the album features also features Ludacris, will.I.am, and T.I. Of course, this is no Confessions, however it is a step in the right direction and miles above Here I Stand. The only song worth skipping, in my opinion, is "Papers". Standout tracks include "O.M.G", "Mars vs. Venus", "Foolin' Around" and "Making Love (Into The Night)". Grade: A-

Here's the newly released video for the international single, "O.M.G" featuring will.i.am:

Hopefully, this song will be a single in the U.S.

Go cop these albums now! And if you haven't gotten Monica's Still Standing, the stores are now stocked!

PRESSPLAY

Obviously not-so breaking news...

Ricky Martin has finally opened the door to the glass closet and stepped out. You may now return to your regularly boring life.

Seriously. Ellen, we knew it. Clay Aiken, we knew it. Lance Bass, we frickin' knew it! What's the difference between them and Ricky? NOT A DAMN THING!

In a public letter posted on his website, after many years of having to live in silence and being told by the industry *feigned shock* NOT to reveal is not-so secret sexual orientation, Martin has finally declared that he is "a fortunate homosexual man", and that he is "very blessed" to be who he is.

Since the letter is so damn long and I'm feeling too lazy to post it, you can read it HERE.

Can we get a REAL surprise coming out story, like T.I. or Denzel or Bow Wow. Well, Bow Wow wouldn't be so surprising...

*Throws confetti and twirls* Now we can sing "HE Bangs"...

Hilariously Ridiculous: A g-damn shame...

*Climbs into the casket I bought from Wal-Mart*

I'm fuckin' DONE!!!!

You're the one for me...

Artist: Dondria
Song: You're the One

Dondria is a new artist, signed to Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label. The song has been receiving lots of airplay on the radio lately, and I just discovered the song over the weekend. I love it. The video is kinda similar to Monica's "Everything To Me", though.

Everybody Loves Raymond...

Artist: Usher featuring Nicki Minaj
Song: Lil Freak
Album: Raymond v. Raymond

Prepped as the 47296th 2nd single for his upcoming 6th studio album, Raymond v. Raymond, fake ass MJ wanna-be R&B singer Usher drops the video for "Lil Freak", which features popular up-and-coming female rap star Lil Kim Nicki Minaj on the song. Former Crunk-N-B flop singer C-error also makes a guess appearance...not dancing. While I absolutely LOVE this song and continue to have it on repeat, especially because of Nicki's verse, I was TOTALLY expecting sooooooo much more from this video. I mean, it's like I've already seen it before. Ursh seems to love the club scene as of lately: U Don't Have To Call, Yeah!, Bad Girl/My Boo, Love In This Club, Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home) and now this. Hope the next one is much better. Raymond v. Raymond in stores 3/30/10.

New Release: Monica - Still Standing

R&B veteran songstress Monica releases her highly-anticipated 5th studio album, STILL STANDING after 15 long years in the game. Fueled by the smash hit single, "Everything To Me", Monica takes her fans back to where it all began in 1995, when she first hit the scene with "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Them Days)" by bringing back what older generations prior to the millennium years recognize as rhythm and blues: songs of quality, substance and are relatable. Albeit only having 10 tracks, it's a great album even though 1 or 2 tracks should have been replaced by the bonus tracks, which were unfortunately only available through pre-orders. The new album is loaded with songs about love, life, relationships and faith. Including the motivational title track featuring Ludacris, standout tracks include "Mirror", "Here I Am", "Superman", "Love All Over Me" and "Believing In Me". No gimmicks. No flash or flair. All this "rowdy chick" has to do is SANG! A-
1. Still Standing featuring Ludacris
2. One In A Lifetime
3. Stay Or Go
4. Everything To Me
5. If You Were My Man
6. Mirror
7. Here I Am
8. Superman
9. Love All Over Me
10. Believing In Me

Happee Burftae Peppah!

Oh, and clearly your B-day anthem...

FREAK!

Historic Victory: Health Care Reform has passed!

A victory for the American people!

After one hundred years, the call of history has been answered with a 219-212 vote, despite all 178 Republicans and 34 Democrats opposing.

Now, I've had my own issues regarding this bill in terms of its costs, the cost for those with pre-existing conditions (especially those passed middle age), unemployed college students who are barely paying for school, abortion and being fined for being uninsured, among other things. Oh, and the fact that there's still no public option. We can argue back and forth the wrongs and rights, agree and disagree, but I know we can all agree that the 32 million uninsured Americans need help. This HCR law is a start. This is CHANGE.

Way to go, Mr. President. Way to go. *Applause*

*Side note: The right-wing, GOP, tea-baggers *giggles* and their supporters are already predicting doom for the future of the Dems this November. If you see a fan of the elephant, you know the Republican mascot, saying they're GLAD for this passing, just know they're prematurely celebrating that this could possibly be the last term for many Dems and Mr. Obama. It would be hilarious if and when they're wrong.

Battle of the Besties...

If you already know me then you already know I'm not the messy type.

Okay, I'm lying. I can be messier than Wendy Williams at a celebrity wig trading fair sponsored by Beef Jerky.

Anyway, my best friend (we'll call her "Erica") has 2 besties. There's me, and there's the one she's had before me. See, she and I met almost 3 years ago on a cruise trip with our cousins. Confused? I know. Breakdown: my cousins through their mom; her cousins through their dad. If you didn't get that then I pray for you.

Anywho, her crazy ass girl (we'll call her "Rae") and I instantly hit it off when we first met later on. However, she's actually more of a damn fool than I am. But lately, she has been vaguely putting "Erica's" business out public via Facebook. I'm talking about everything about her personal life from relationships, family and career. EVERYTHING. "Erica" doesn't ever say much about it but she does tell me she gets embarrassed by it and wishes "Rae" would stop. I try to convince her to speak up but she's scared and she didn't want me to say anything. Mind you, this is supposed to be her best friend since HIGH SCHOOL.

Well, I had enough. Earlier this week, "Erica" called "Rae" for some ideas on what she should cook. Moments later, we find that "Rae" posted a Facebook status: "Let me tell you about a friend who calls me and ask for advice on cooking but she never invites me over to eat. Is that a friend or a friend of convenience?" Now, I and all my cousins (those that are also "Erica's") are FB friends with "Rae" and saw it. All it takes is for one person to say "I'm cooking" and we all just show up. No invites or anything. We family. Y'all know how it is. So I decided to be funny by posting the following status: "Let me tell about a friend of a friend who calls out her best friend when she doesn't get an invite to eat whenever she cooks but she knows she can just show up like everyone else does."

Now, was I wrong? I mean, if you knew me then you'd know I have a very joking nature. Seriously, I'm funny without even intending to be funny. But me posting that status was a joke, which we all understood. Well, all except "Rae". It was all fun and games...until she said she wanted to FUCK ME UP!

OH HEEEEEEEEEELLLZ NAW!!!

Then she posted another status: "I see she got her roommate speaking for her. Baby, speak when you're spoken to. Thanks for the shout out. FYI, I'm never scared."

My status response: "Don't think you can just call people out on FB whenever you feel like it but then you want to fuck somebody else up for calling YOU out. I'm just calling it like I see it. Chill out with the childish shit and GROW UP!"

And then she commented: "Dude, let me tell you this. Before you speak, look in the mirror. You have been calling people out since day one. Don't think nobody really knows what you do on twitter. You talk bad about everybody in your fam so you may not want to go there. I call it like I see. Pick and choose your battles. Now, I'ma be a woman and bounce. Have a great life loser!"

Yep, I responded: "I know what the fuck I do. Don't fuck with me. You can call me out on my shit all you want; I don't give a fuck. I'll go wherever the fuck I want. Just know your ass isn't going to threaten me and think you'll get away with it. You tell YOURSELF to pick and choose battles before you try to get into some shit with me." (She quickly deleted me as a friend soon after)

Clearly, I would have written more but I was typing from my Blackberry and it was late. First of all, "Rae" doesn't follow me on twitter. Secondly, my tweets are protected so she doesn't know shit. Thirdly, my fam already knows everything I've tweeted about them because I said it to their face. I've never spoken ill about them. There may have been a couple of things I said here and there but never ill. If I ever said something behind their back, I got called on it and I accept full responsibility for it, whether I'm wrong or I'm right. Why the fuck get mad at anything? Everyone that knows me knows my attitude and what can happen if my buttons are pushed, and they know NOT to pull those triggers. "Rae" clearly has a lesson to learn. She better hope she doesn't cross my path from now on.

Funny thing, my fam who saw all of this, actually sided and agreed with me. And this whole time, poor "Erica" is stuck in the middle, and she tried to stop it all. Now, since we're roommates, she's stuck with a dilemma...

The unofficial music video...the Illuminati fanatics are going to go crazy.

Illuminati Mindfuck...

Surely, you guys have heard all the rumors and conspiracy theories about certain celebrities and secret societies.

Jay-Z, Illuminati. Beyoncé, Illuminati. Denzel Washington, Freemasonry. Kobe Bryant, Freemasonry.

I could go on. The point is these so called "truths" are rapidly spreading via the world wide web and feeding into the minds of the most gullible idiots who will believe any ridiculous story on the face of this earth. The stories have become more prevalent surrounding Jay-Z and anyone who associates with him, from Kanye West to Rihanna to even John Mayer. And yes, even Beyoncé.

Cue the "Telephone" video from Lady Gaga which happens to feature Lady Bouncy. I'm not surprised these overly dramatic fanatics had all the time in the world to dissect every inch, corner and frame of the video for any symbols of devil worshipping, satanism, demonics - you name it, they look for it.  Well, there's a scene that Bouncy performs in a bedroom wearing a blue military style jacket:
See that little face? Crazy, right? If I didn't have half the mind, I would have fallen for it too. BUT...I noticed something else. Look directly above that little face. Can you see it? What about to the left above that same little face? I'll point it out:
Yep, MORE LITTLE FACES!!!
GASP!!!! THE WOMAN'S THE DEVIL!!!

*Insert sarcasm here*

Clearly that jacket was designed with the little faces. I guess, like Jigga, Bouncy knows how to get them to talk....

So...I got tumblr...

No, I'm not leaving this blog. This is my baby.

The only reason I created a tumblr account is because members of my family found out that I have a blog. Well, I let it slip. You see, there's some things that I post on this blog that I don't want them to know about or see, mainly things regarding them. My twitter account is locked/protected so I can vent when needed instead of public or venting on Facebook without the drama that ensues. They are messy. There's always so much drama that TNT can't even keep up.

They've been asking to read my post about negativity among black people since I had bragged about how good I felt about that being my best writing/post to date. In case you didn't know, my family are very much involved in anything dealing with politics and the black race (even though we're mixed), and loves to bring race into any conversation - relevant or not. I know, I could have easily just gave them the link to that particular post, right? Wrong. These people are smart. They can go through and read every single post dating back to day 1.

So, I decided to create tumblr just for them. I will continue to post here as normal but some things I post here, I will not post on tumblr. You can follow that blog if you'd like but mostly you'll see the same things there that you'll see here.

Not gonna reach my telephone...

Artist: Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé
Song: Telephone
Album: The Fame Monster

You cannot deny that we've all been waiting for this moment. After so many teaser photos and postponing, the highly anticipated official video for the new Lady Gaga single, "Telephone", which features none other than the annoyingly unstoppable Bouncy Beyoncé and co-stars singer/actor Tyrese, has finally been released. Originally set to premier on E! at 11:30pm EST, the video leaked via YouTube Vevo and nearly shut down Twitter.

Clocking in at 9 minutes and 30 seconds, the short film music video is very reminiscent of the days when the late Michael Jackson gave us "Bad" and "Thriller". They really made this quite an event and it was well worth the wait. There's a storyline but of course it has nothing to do with the song. Both girls were working the high fashion and dance routines. I won't give away the details but if there was one bad thing I would say about this video is Bouncy cannot act worth a damn if her life depended on it. If Bouncy didn't see it then, they can see now that the "Video Phone" music video was an #EpicFail. Check out that PussyWagon from the Kill Bill films! This is easily the best music video of 2010. No need for "so far".

I'm on the pursuit of happyness...

Artist: KiD CuDi
Song: Pursuit of Happiness
Album: Man on the Moon: The End of Day

I've always been a fan of Scott Mescudi since first hearing him featured on Kanye West's "Welcome to Heartbreak", a track from the album 808's & Heartbreak. When I heard his first single, "Day 'n' Nite", I knew I was BUYING (not illegally downloading) this album. In my opinion, CuDi brings something fresh to Hip-Hop. I'm not into all the Waka Flocka's and Tyga's and Soulja Boy's so Scott was it for me. Peep the alternative video for the track "Pursuit of Happiness". Me likes.

Black folks, we gotta do better...

Black people are the most negative amongst each other out of all the races on this earth.

Disagree if you want but that statement is true. The Academy Awards held this past Sunday is proof of that.

Let me start by saying congratulations to my favorite hairy-legged banshee Mo'Nique for winning the Oscars Best Supporting Actress category for her role as Mary Jones in the film "Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire". It was well deserved. I mean, she was the best. (And congrats to Sandra, although I wanted Meryl to win.)

Now, as I was saying, the Oscars telecast brought out the negativity, jealousy and hateration from black people. They complained because the ceremony used a certain clip from the movie Precious. Y'all know, the chicken run. Guess what? It won Best Adapted Screenplay. It was a very popular scene. Why not show it? Of course, those that still have that slave mentality were offended because it was a big black girl with some fried chicken. Y'all know how us black folk be bout dat fried shikkin!

Then there's the complaint about the Oscars only awarding black actors for playing roles "depicting the black race in the worst way possible." HUH?! Like, really???

Denzel Washington for playing a crooked cop. Halle  Berry for tricking out a white man. Jennifer Hudson for being a big, washed up singer and a single mother hiding her child from the baby daddy. Mo'Nique was an unemployed, neglecting, hateful and abusive single mother that didn't give a shit that her daughter was raped by the man she loved. Jamie Foxx was a blind singer and womanizer. Forrest Whitaker as a brutally animalistic polygamous dictator. All of these award-winning actors portrayed characters which BLACK people nitpicked as the negative roles.

Have we forgotten? Hilary Swank as a transgendered man in Boyz Don't Cry. Glenn Close as a psychotic lover in Fatal Attraction. Charlize Theron as a lesbian serial killer in Monster. Kim Basinger as an neglectful alcoholic mother in 8 Mile. Are these negative roles? I don't hear any WHITE people complaining about anything.

Um, if I'm not mistaken, the roles played by ALL of the actors I've mentioned, both black and white, actually depict REAL LIFE SITUATIONS. Regardless of race - black, white, Asian, middle eastern - all of these characters EXIST on this earth. They're REAL and have been brought to life on the big screen to show the people who don't know how it is to live this way or what real people go through. This world is not all "peaches and cream", and people need to realize that. Real people exists that relates to these stories about real life. Nothing about these characters are typical "black" roles.

All of these actors were recognized for their performances, their range and the emotion they bring to the characters. They broke away from the normal, typical roles they usually play. Look at Training Day and the rest of Denzel's work, Monster's Ball and Halle's resume, or even Precious and Mo'Nique's credits. Notice a difference? These roles are the hardest to portray and those with the extraordinary acting abilities were selected to bring them to life. Any actor, no matter what race, could have played the crooked cop in Training Day but they wouldn't even amount to half the job Denzel did. He owned that role. And who would have thought Mo'nique could be taken seriously and tackle a role that required some real acting chops to get to the deepest and darkest, most screwed up depths of the human soul? Well, guess what? She signed, sealed and delivered it straight to that Oscar win. Mo was Mary Jones.

Does Will Smith deserve an Oscar? Of course he does, based on his roles in Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness. The reason he lost both is because Denzel (Training Day) and Forrest (Last King of Scotland) took home the prize. But since "we black folks" love to nitpick the negatives, let's REALLY look at the two films: Ali was a cheater and Gardner was homeless single father with a kid whose mother abandoned. Still think he should have won? *Roll-eyes* Anyway, Will's time is coming but I have to say I feel that he's being typecasted into comedic and good guy roles without realizing it.

I'm sure Asians in Hollywood aren't happy that most of their movies are about karate. Native Americans must be up in arms that they're always being represented by tanned white actors. When was the last time you saw a comedy or a love story, let alone black comedies and love stories, that was Oscar-worthy? Yeah, I thought so.

Check this list of Academy Award-winning African Americans:
•Hattie McDaniel, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Gone With the Wind (1939).
•Sidney Poitier, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Lilies of the Field (1963).
•Louis Gossett, Jr., Best Actor in a Supporting Role for An Officer and a Gentleman (1982).
•Denzel Washington, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Glory (1989).
•Whoopi Goldberg, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Ghost (1990).
•Cuba Gooding, Jr., Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Jerry Maguire (1996).
•Halle Berry, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Monster’s Ball (2001).
•Denzel Washington, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Training Day (2001).
•Sidney Poitier, Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award “for his extraordinary performances and unique presence on the screen and for representing the industry with dignity, style and intelligence.” [awarded at the 2002 Academy Awards Ceremony]
•Jamie Foxx, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Ray (2004).
•Morgan Freeman, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Million Dollar Baby (2004).
•Forest Whitaker, Best Actor in a Leading Role for The Last King of Scotland (2006).
•Jennifer Hudson, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Dreamgirls (2006).
•Mo'Nique, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Precious: Based on the novel "Push" by Sapphire (2010).
•Geoffrey Fletcher, Best Adapted Screenplay for Precious: Based on the novel "Push" by Sapphire (2010).

I'd say that's a GREAT list. This is better than having films like Friday After Next or Booty Call or Baby Boy being recognized. Those movies damn sure not Oscar-worthy.

I'm getting so sick of my people and this slave mentality B.S. We can't even praise or uplift one another but we're quick to bring each other down with negativity. It's getting old...seriously. We cannot advance living this way. We need to open our eyes and our minds. Are we THAT overly sensitive? If so, it's for all the wrong reasons and the wrong topics.

Go DJ...

So basically, you all know I'm a huge fan of music. You can find me downloading new music every single day. Of course, I'm not limited to one genre: the typical hip-hop/R&B. Pop, Rock, Alternative, Dance/House/Techno, Gospel, Jazz - I love it all. So it's only natural that anytime my family has a get-together, I'm the go-to guy for the music. Normally, I'd make some mixed CD's with hip-hop/R&B tunes.

Last night, however, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of making CD's, I bought a set of adrenaline-pumping surround sound speakers to hook up to my laptop and played the tracks from iTunes. Having nearly 3,000 songs, I'd never run out of music to play. So basically, I was the unofficial DJ. I don't know how to mix the music like the professionals and of course I didn't have the equipment to do so but that didn't stop everyone from having a good time.

They, my cousins of course, even started coming up with a moniker. I've heard of everything from DJ "DJ" to DJ "Dre Day" to DJ "Drizzy Dre". All lame, I know lol. I did get a lot of suggestions to take up the DJ thing more seriously. A couple of gigs, a couple hundred dollars each. Some of the laid out a whole plan, smh.

Who knows? Maybe I'll consider it.

That's my baby daddy, hol' on...

Y'all know I loves me some Whitney "Crackhead" Houston, especially when she high. One of her recent concerts somewhere in hot ass Austrailia (peep the fur coat), she showed her sense of humor when it came to Bobby Brown. *Ignore the terrible singing...because it is definitely terrible*

And of course, she candidly blasted the media for recent reports of her horrible performances:

#BlankStare

I want some of whatever this bish is on...

The Hatter, the Bitchie Queen & the Rabbit Hole...

I decided a long time ago that I was going to go to the movies on March 5th. Why? Because that was the day a certain highly anticipated film was being released. A remake of an old Disney classic visually brought to life, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway.

If you guessed Tim Burton's "Alice In Wonderland", pat yourself on the back.

A 19-year-old ALICE returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror.

This movie was UH-MAY-ZING! From the fashion to the storyline to the visuals. I'm not sure why I always find myself in surprise and amazement when seeing a new Tim Burton film but he does his job very well. If you know Tim Burton's work then you know his films tend to seem a bit dark. I loved his version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". This film may seem a little too grown up for children at times but it does carry a message about life - the world is never bright and shiny, and there will always be speed bumps and road blocks. The plot isn't so much original, however, it is indeed unique enough to be so.

The acting from the cast is highly superb and made the characters seem real as they brought them to life. Johnny Depp is a great actor, dare I say the greatest there is today, because of the kind of roles that he takes on (Willie Wonka in "The Chocolate Factory", Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbeans"). So it is no surprise that he's played the role of Mad Hatter extremely well enough for some Oscar attention next year. However, it is in my opinion that Depp has, for once, been upstaged by none other than Helena Bonham Carter, whom plays the Red Queen.

And don't get me started on the visuals. Brilliant. Just Brilliant. GO SEE IT!!!

In 3D of course!
